Insight into the nuances of buying and selling in one of the country’s most complex urban markets.
The area on this page is the Town of Cheverly. US 50 skims the southern edge, with Cheverly station just south of it at the town line and Tuxedo beyond, and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway brushes the west side. Landover Hills lies to the north, Landover to the east and southeast, and Bladensburg and Villa Heights to the northwest. Landover Road (MD 202) crosses the town and carries most through traffic. The residential streets, including Cheverly Avenue, Crest Avenue and Belleview Avenue, cover the hills between those roads, and the non-residential parcels sit near the highways.
Cheverly station, on the Orange and Silver lines, is at the southern edge of town, with its entrance on the south side off Columbia Park Road. US 50 leads west toward downtown Washington DC and east to the Capital Beltway and Annapolis. The Baltimore-Washington Parkway, on the west side, connects north toward Greenbelt and Baltimore. Landover Road (MD 202) is the main surface route through town.
Cheverly has little retail of its own, so grocery, pharmacy and restaurant trips usually run along Landover Road or into neighboring communities. The town’s parks and the private Cheverly Swim and Racquet Club are spread through the residential streets. The former hospital in Cheverly closed in June 2021, when its replacement, the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, opened in Largo.
