Insight into the nuances of buying and selling in one of the country’s most complex urban markets.
The area on this page is the Town of Riverdale Park. Baltimore Avenue (US 1) runs along the west side, with University Park across it, and College Park lies to the north. The town reaches east across Kenilworth Avenue (MD 201), and Hyattsville and Edmonston border it to the south and southeast. East-West Highway (MD 410) links Baltimore Avenue and Kenilworth Avenue in the southern part of town. Baltimore Avenue holds Riverdale Park Station and most retail, the railroad runs north to south through the town center, and the streets between, around Riverdale Road and Oglethorpe Street, hold the older houses.
MARC’s Camden Line stops at Riverdale Park Town Center station in the middle of town, with weekday trains to Washington Union Station and Baltimore’s Camden Station. Baltimore Avenue (US 1) is the main north-south road, East-West Highway (MD 410) heads west toward Silver Spring, and Kenilworth Avenue (MD 201) connects to US 50 and the Capital Beltway. College Park-University of Maryland and Hyattsville Crossing are the nearest Metrorail stations.
Riverdale Park Station, on Baltimore Avenue at the western edge of town, covers most errands with a Whole Foods Market, shops, restaurants and services in one place. Other shops and services line Baltimore Avenue and Kenilworth Avenue. The Riversdale house museum, run by the park and planning commission, sits within the residential streets, and its grounds add open space.
