Insight into the nuances of buying and selling in one of the country’s most complex urban markets.
The area on this page is an approximate outline around recent sales labeled Potomac Yard and Potomac Greens. It runs from the Braddock Road area at the south end north to just short of the Potomac Yard Metro station, with Richmond Highway (Route 1) along the west side, where the outline also catches a few Del Ray addresses, and the George Washington Memorial Parkway on the east. The rail line splits it: Potomac Avenue, Main Line Boulevard and Swann Avenue hold the townhouses and condominium buildings west of the tracks, and Potomac Greens Drive and Old Town Greens sit east of them.
Potomac Yard station, opened in May 2023, sits just past the north end with entrances on Potomac Avenue and Potomac Greens Drive. Braddock Road station is just beyond the south end. Metroway bus rapid transit uses dedicated lanes on Richmond Highway toward Crystal City, and the George Washington Memorial Parkway leads to Reagan National Airport and Washington DC.
Potomac Yard Center, a shopping center of roughly 590,000 square feet anchored by big-box stores, is north of the Metro station, outside the mapped area. Restaurants and independent shops line Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray, a few blocks west across Richmond Highway. Old Town’s King Street is a short trip south.
