Insight into the nuances of buying and selling in one of the country’s most complex urban markets.
This page follows the Centreville census-designated place. The area stops just short of Bull Run and the Prince William County line on the south and southwest, with Bull Run Regional Park beyond that edge. It reaches north to the Chantilly line at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park and east to about Stringfellow Road, taking in Union Mill Road on the way toward Clifton and Fair Lakes. I-66 crosses the middle from southwest to northeast. Route 29 carries most of the shopping centers, Route 28 runs north to south through the center, and the residential subdivisions spread out along Braddock Road, Stone Road, New Braddock Road and Union Mill Road. Some homes on the southeastern side, including much of Little Rocky Run, carry a Clifton mailing address.
I-66 runs east toward Fairfax, the Beltway and Washington DC, and west toward Gainesville and Haymarket. Route 28 heads north to Chantilly, Dulles International Airport and the Dulles Toll Road, and south to Manassas. Route 29 parallels I-66 as the local alternative. Fairfax Connector buses link the park-and-ride lots on Stone Road and Stringfellow Road with Metrorail.
Supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants and services cluster in the shopping centers on Route 29 on both sides of Route 28, so most errands are a short drive from any subdivision. The Centreville Regional Library is close to the same area. Larger-format stores and more restaurants are at Fair Lakes and Fairfax Corner to the east.
