Insight into the nuances of buying and selling in one of the country’s most complex urban markets.
Beltsville, as the Census defines it, is bounded on the south by the Capital Beltway and College Park and on the west by the Montgomery County line near Cherry Hill Road. It reaches north to the Ammendale and Muirkirk area and east into the fields of the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center toward Greenbelt. US 1 runs north to south through the middle with most of the retail, and I-95 crosses the west side. The older subdivisions sit on either side of US 1 around Powder Mill and Sellman roads, and condominium communities are along Cherry Hill Road and near Powder Mill Road.
I-95 crosses the west side of Beltsville and the Capital Beltway runs along the southern edge, so trips toward DC, Baltimore and Montgomery County all start close to home. Greenbelt station on the Green Line is the nearest Metrorail stop, and Muirkirk station has MARC Camden Line trains. Metrobus routes run along US 1 and Cherry Hill Road, though most trips here are made by car.
US 1 handles daily errands, with supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants and services between the Beltway and Ammendale Road. A county library branch and the District 6 police station are in the community. For larger trips, IKEA is immediately south in College Park, and both Laurel and Greenbelt have additional shopping centers within a short drive.
