Kalorama is a Northwest DC neighborhood just north of Dupont Circle, rising toward Rock Creek Park. It is often divided into Sheridan-Kalorama, west of Connecticut Avenue, and Kalorama Triangle, east of Connecticut toward Adams Morgan.
Sheridan-Kalorama is known for grand townhouses and detached mansions from the early 1900s in Beaux-Arts, Georgian Revival, and Tudor styles, many now serving as embassies and ambassadors’ residences along and near Massachusetts Avenue’s Embassy Row. Kalorama Triangle has brick rowhouses and a collection of prewar apartment and condominium buildings with generous floor plans.
Daily life is quiet on the residential streets, with Dupont Circle’s and Adams Morgan’s restaurants, shops, and services a short walk away. Rock Creek Park’s trails border the neighborhood, and the Woodrow Wilson House museum sits on S Street.
Dupont Circle and Woodley Park Metro stations on the Red Line are each within walking distance. Kalorama offers some of DC’s most distinguished architecture on quiet streets close to the center of the city.
