Cleveland Park is a historic Northwest DC neighborhood along Connecticut Avenue, known for its large Victorian, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival houses on wooded, hilly streets and a compact commercial strip around the Cleveland Park Metro station. Much of it lies within the Cleveland Park Historic District.
The housing includes grand frame and shingle-style houses from the 1890s through the 1920s, many with wraparound porches and deep lots, along with Colonial Revival and Tudor homes from the following decades. Along Connecticut Avenue, landmark apartment and condominium buildings offer an alternative to house living.
Daily life centers on the Connecticut Avenue strip, with the historic Uptown Theater, restaurants, shops, and the neighborhood library. Rock Creek Park, the Tregaron Conservancy, and Rosedale’s grounds provide green space, and the National Zoo is just south.
Cleveland Park station on the Red Line puts downtown about 15 minutes away. The neighborhood offers architecturally distinctive houses and classic apartment buildings with a Metro stop and a walkable main street.
