Insight into the nuances of buying and selling in one of the country’s most complex urban markets.
The area on this page follows the Aspen Hill Census-designated place, so its edges are approximate. Rock Creek and its parkland form the western side, with Rock Creek Regional Park just beyond the northwest corner. The northern edge runs near Norbeck Road, and the eastern end reaches the Longmead area. The southern tip extends into Wheaton Woods. North of the junction of the two avenues, the line notches inward and leaves out a large block of land. Georgia Avenue and Connecticut Avenue hold the shopping centers; the side streets are residential.
Georgia Avenue (MD 97) and Connecticut Avenue (MD 185) meet in Aspen Hill and give two direct routes south toward the Capital Beltway and Washington DC. The Intercounty Connector (MD 200) is reached from Georgia Avenue just north of the community. Glenmont station on the Red Line is about a mile south of the boundary, and buses run along both avenues.
Everyday shopping is concentrated at the Aspen Hill Shopping Center and Northgate Plaza on Aspen Hill Road, with more stores and restaurants along the two avenues. Wheaton to the south and Rockville to the west add regional retail. The Rock Creek Trail, Rock Creek Regional Park and the Matthew Henson Trail are within a short drive of most streets.
